AMBENO (TOP) - Special Administrative Region Authority of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA) has started a cooperation with Marie Stopes International in Timor Leste (MSITL) to advocate and provide protect for women and girls in Oé-Cusse Ambeno.
The cooperation between the two parties through the signing of a MoU at the International Women's Day commemoration ceremony with the theme, Happy International Women's Day, "We All Ensure Rights, Justice Action for All Women and Girls", at the Convention Hall 1 May Palaban, Oe-Cusse Ambeno on Wednesday, March 2016.
The President of the Special Administrative Region Authority of Oe-Cusse Ambeno, Régio Servantes Roméia da Cruz Salu said, keeping Timorese women and girls is very important, with protection and safety, and give the right to women to become leaders in Timor-Leste.
“Especially in the interactive, I want to give importance to women leadership in the development of leadership potential for RAEOA. Today, we signed a MoU with MSITL, seen from the advocacy side, to provide security, protection to women and girls, and our people, because we know that, when we start our mandate, the Prime-Minister reminded us that just prioritize the interest of the people above all,” the President of the RAEOA Authority explained.
Salu also considered the MoU is a multi-consideration, to defend, promote and protect the people, especially women's potential to enter political life and economic leadership.
“The MoU that the RAEOA Authority signed with MSITL is not only related to health, but also related to the issue of protecting the rights of women and youth, as the continuing potential of the country,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Country Director of Marie Stopes International Timor-Leste, Maria Amelia N. Barreto, thanked for the cooperation established with the RAEOA Authority.
“This cooperation is only to formalize the work that we have been doing, because MSITL has been working with RAEOA since 2016, and we have a topic that has ended in 2025, but now we are following an agreement, with intersectoral content,” she explained.
She added, in the future, MSITL will work together with gender equality, education sector, agriculture sector and sports sector in RAEOA, because the sports area, accumulates many youth, and MSITL comes to strengthen the system that RAEOA already has, with the leadership of the current President of the RAEOA Authority and the entire structure.
