COVID-19: Only 2 People Have Symptoms

Oekusipost.com Dili  - After the government announced a positive case of the novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) on April 10 then it increased to 18 positive cases, one was cured but had panicked the entire community in the country.

For two consecutive days, from April 17-18, the number of positive cases has stopped for a moment because there were no additional positive cases.

According to available data, around 21 people are currently living in isolation room at the Vera Cruz health center in Dili. Among these 21 people, there were only 17 people who tested positive, and 4 others were not known for certain, but according to the results of the last test showed that out of the total there were only two people with symptoms of COVID-19, and other not, but they must remain in the isolation room to get more intensive health services.

In fact, at the pandemic stage of COVID-19, there is no standard definition of the symptoms exhibited by the patient. According to Dr. Sandro Galea, an epidemiologist and Dean of the School of Public Health, Boston University, said that it would take years to develop standard guidelines for symptoms for newly identified diseases.

Coordinator of the Task Force for prevention and Mitigation, doctor Sergio Lobo also said, some people divide the level of this disease into three levels, but most divide it into five levels.

Asymptomatic level

In medicine, asymptomatic disease is a disease that has been positively suffered by a person, but does not provide any clinical symptoms to that person.

Mild symptoms

Cases of COVID-19 with mild symptoms are indeed not dangerous. But in some cases, especially in the elderly and those with comorbidity, mild cases can develop into moderate cases that require some supportive care. Patients in this category will get fluids for dehydration, usually in the emergency room or emergency care center, especially if the hospital is overwhelmed by more acute cases.

Moderate symptoms

Symptoms of moderate pain in people with COVID-19 include coughing, fever above 38 degrees Celsius, chills, and there is a feeling of not wanting or not getting out of bed. Some patients also experience shortness of breath, although it can occur in several forms.

Serious rate

At this level the patient is very difficult to breathe, and this is requires oxygen.

"Our friend who is now in the isolation room according to the latest data available, there are only two people who have symptoms. Others do not exist, but they must remain in solitary confinement, "doctor Sergio stated through a press conference at the Dili Convention Center, Saturday 18 April 2020.

He added that the positive cases today remained only 17 cases, but the number of cases that were awaiting results had increased to 97. With this result, he still asked the whole community not to feel panic, but had to maintain personal hygiene like always washing hands with soap, always wear a mask when leaving the house, and must maintain social distance.

Overall data for Saturday 18 April 2020 consists of 473 people still in quarantine in Dili, and 121 in quarantine in municipalities. There are 13 people doing quarantine in their own homes and in the supervision of medical personnel. There are 1340 people who have left quarantine.
