COVID-19: A Journey from Bandung to Dili Finally Positive

Oekusipost.com Dili - A student from Timor-Leste who study at one of the university in Bandung, Indonesia has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Integrated Center Spokeswoman for COVID-19 Crisis Management, Odete da Silva Viegas explained, the student who had a positive COVID-19 test had started his trip from Bandung to Jakarta in a travel car on March 30, and from Jakarta to Kupang by BatikAir plane.

After arriving at the El Tari Kupang airport, he rented an Avanza brand car from Kupang headed to Atambua, and slept overnight at the Timor Travel Hotel in Atambua, and the next day he rode a motorcycle to the Mota-Ain border.

After entering the territory of Timor-Leste, from Batugade to Dili were boarded with a Maliana bus on 31 March. When he arrived in Dili, he was quarantined at the Hotel-Lecidere, and the results of laboratory tests today showed he had contracted corona virus.

"Today's positive case is from Hotel-Lecidere. He traveled from Bandung to Jakarta in a travel car on March 30, 2020. From Jakarta to Kupang on a Batik Air plane. From Kupang to Atambua and enter Dili," she stated through a press conference at the Dili Convention Center, Sunday 19 April 2020.

Odete explained, data for today showed there were still 608 in quarantine and auto-quarantine. Of this number there are 594 people still in quarantine, of which 460 are in quarantine in Dili and 134 in quarantine in municipalities, and there are only 14 people who do auto-quarantine in their own homes under the supervision of the medical team.

Although there are still many people who are in quarantine, but the number that has come out of quarantine for 14 days amounted to 1399. In the isolation room of Vera Cruz there were 22 people consisting of 18 positive cases and 4 probability cases. All are still in isolation to get more intensive care.

But there are still 323 suspected cases, 92 people are still waiting for the results of laboratory tests in 208 have been declared negative. 

Previously, Coordinator of the Task Force for prevention and Mitigation COVID-19, doctor Sergio Lobo also stated, from the results of laboratory tests that showed that there were only two people who had symptoms, the others not but they have to remained in isolation to get more intensive medical services.
