DILI (TOP) – The Spanish Ambassador to Timor - Leste and Indonesia Francisco de Asís Aguilera has informed the Spanish government's willingness to cooperate with the Timor - Leste government in the tourism and environment sectors.
Ambassador Aguilera stated that, his presence in Timor - Leste is to find out the structure of the new government cabinet and at the same time notify or inform the willingness of the Spanish government to cooperate with this new government in several sectors in the coming years.

“The intention of my visit here is of course to get to know the new member of cabinet. Definitely, Spain is very much keen to develop other ties with Timor – Leste and my intention here is to share with deputy Prime – Minister about our availabilities to cooperate in the tourism, environment sector,” he told journalists at the office of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment in Farol, Dili, Thursday 13 July 2023.
The Spanish ambassador's meeting which lasted for more than an hour was welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, and the Minister for Tourism and Environment, Dato' Sri Francisco Kalbuadi Lay.

Deputy Prime Minister and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, and Minister for Tourism and Environment Dato' Sri Francisco Kalbuadi Lay stated that his government would cooperate with various parties to develop the economic, tourism and environmental sectors.

Francisco de Asís Aguilera, a law graduate from the University of Granada, entered the Diplomatic Career in 1992. Since then, he was head of protocol at the Olympic Games during the XXV Olympic Games, Barcelona ’92 and, in the central services of the Ministry, he was head of the area of Bilateral Economic Relations with Africa and the Middle East; advisor member of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretariat; and head of area and, later, deputy director general of Multilateral Economic Relations and Air, Maritime and Land Cooperation in the General Directorate of Economic Diplomacy.
Abroad, Francisco Aguilera was Minister Counselor at the Spanish Embassies in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as Consul General of Spain in Monterrey (Mexico) and Düsseldorf (Germany).
