The KHUNTO Party Lying Xanana and Turning to TMR

The Coalition Alliance of the Parliamentary Majority has been led by CNRT party leader Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão. The KHUNTO party was originally part of the AMP, but had lied to Xanana and chose to join the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak to maintain this government until 2023.

Oekusipost.com Dili – The coalition majority parliamentary alliance party (AMP), led by the CNRT party, is now in danger of disbanding because the KHUNTO party has decided to withdraw from the coalition on the grounds that there is no certainty of forming a new government this year.

The coalition party was led by CNRT party leader Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and the KHUNTO party was originally part of it, but had lied to Xanana and chose to join the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak to maintain this government until 2023.

Five small parties with the CNRT party formed the AMP coalition on Saturday, February 22 with the aim of forming a new government if the decision was approved by the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, but until now there has been no decision even though the head of state himself requested the political parties to make a political movement in order to resolve domestic political deadlock.

According to the letter of resignation of the Kmanek Haburas Unidade Nacional Timor Oan party (P.KHUNTO) signed by KHUNTO party chairman Armanda Berta Dos Santos and addressed to the CNRT party that, looking at the domestic situation there is no certainty to resolve domestic political turmoil during these three years, as a political party there must be a political statement to provide a solution to the domestic political turmoil.

"With respect to Maun Bo'ot Xanana Gusmão, Chairperson of the CNRT Party and other leaders from the PD, UDT / F-MUDANSA and PUDD parties as partners in the new coalition agreed on 22 February 2020 at the CNRT Bairo Grilos-Dili office," said Armanda Berta through her resignation letter that submitted to the AMP on Wednesday 29 of April 2020.

In the letter Armanda argued that, the situation and existence of the AMP coalition had not yet received confirmation and approval from the President of the Republic as an alternative to the formation of the IXth government.

"The KHUNTO Party considers a statement of trust and support from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Francisco Guterres" Lú-Olo "to Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak to continue to lead the VIII's constitutional government," said Armanda.

She added, because the KHUNTO Party also took part in the VIII constitutional government structure, it decided to provide support to the government until 2023.

"For this reason, the KHUNTO Party with its own awareness wants to give its thanks to Maun Bot Xanana Gusmão as the leader of the CNRT and AMP parties including the PD, UDT / F-MUDANSA and PUDD parties who have been working together, with this important moment in a very difficult situation for the KHUNTO party to make a decision, but because of the interests of the people and the State the KHUNTO party must decide to withdraw from the new AMP coalition".

However, according to Armanda, the KHUNTO party still continues to respect Maun Bo'ot Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and is ready to work together in the future for the interests of the people and beloved country of Timor Leste.

Responding to this, CNRT immediately held an emergency meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 3:00 pm until evening, but there was no specific decision and according to the information accessed by O-Kusi Post in the field that the CNRT party would declare a statement on Thursday, 30 April 2020.

This emergency meeting was attended by members of the eighth government such as Chief Minister of the Council of Ministers Agio Pereira and others.
