Vaccines in Timor-Leste will start in April

DILI (TOP) - The Timor-Leste's government has a comprehensive plan to offer Covid-19 vaccines to all Timorese by 2022.

The first plan is for the upcoming 33,600 doses of the first vaccine in April this year which will be injected into all citizens aged 18 years and over by the end of 2021.

According to the text presented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Solidarity, Armanda Berta dos Santos and by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Elaboration and Coordination of Implementation of Vaccination Plans against COVID-19 that the first 33,600 doses will arrive in Timor-Leste in the fourth week of March 2021 and the launch of the first vaccination phase will begin in the second week of April.

“It is hoped that all people over 18 years of age will be vaccinated by the end of 2021. Vaccination for those under 18 is expected to be carried out by 2022, but planning still depends on technical recommendations from the World Health Organization,” according to the government.

Planning and preparation activities for the implementation of the vaccination plan are underway, such as preparation of storage conditions and team training.
