Xanana went abroad amidst domestic political instability and the Covid-19 pandemic

DILI (TOP) – Timor-Leste independence hero Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão is now in Jakarta, Indonesia to do some important things and also will do medical tests, said a source close to Xanana.

Before leaving the country, since last March to November he was very active in socializing the stages of preventing Covid-19 throughout Timor-Leste, especially in several municipalities directly adjacent to East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

In addition to socializing the stages of preventing Covid-19, the former commander in chief of FALINTIL also carried out charity actions for underprivileged families during the national emergency period.

Global cases have reached 55,672,841, according to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The worldwide death toll has reached 1,339,125. But Timor-Leste is one of the lucky country in the world because since last March until now it has been free from Covid-19 even though the health system is still relatively fragile.

Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão has flown to Jakarta, Indonesia by private Jet (Jet Hawker 800) on Wednesday 18 November 2020.

According to information accessed by The Oe-Kusi Post (TOP), Xanana's visit to Jakarta will do several important things and will also carry out medical tests.

While some information is currently developing and circulating that Xanana is ill and has been rushed to Jakarta for a medical examination, but the President of the Directive Council (CDN) of the CNRT party Dionisio Babo Soares immediately denied.

Babo said, Xanana traveled to Jakarta for routine medical tests.

"Actually he already had to leave a few months ago but due to the Covid-19 situation that has hampered his travel plans," Babo explained to TOP in Dili, Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

The former Secretary General of the CNRT party explained, Xanana is physically very stable and there is no disease that hinders or is not good for his health.

"His health condition is very good even though he has made intensive trips to all municipalities in Timor-Leste since the last few months".

This tiny country in Southeast Asia is facing a political crisis since the coalition of supporters of Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak collapsed. Ruak, whose real name is Jose Maria de Vasconcelos, resigned in February after several failed attempts to complete the 2020 budget.

This failure occurred because the largest coalition party, the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction founded by Xanana, attracted support.

This was triggered after a number of names of ministers proposed by Kay Xanana Gusmaão were rejected by the President of the Republic Francisco Guterres Lú Olo as well as President of FRETILIN party, due to allegations of "corruption", but this had not been proven.
