COVID-19: The Negative Cases Increase to 692 People

Oekusipost.com Dili – The evolution and development of corona virus disease (COVID-19) in Timor-Leste has started to show improved results for a week since laboratory test cases show negative numbers increasing or free of this virus while the number of confirmed cases remains.

Official Relations Coordinator of the Task Force as well as Spokeswoman of the Situation Room Integrated Crisis Management Center, Dra. Odete da Silva Viegas said, the cumulative test number was 830 people (yesterday 764), who were awaiting the results of 114 laboratory tests and 24 confirmed cases and no new cases.

"The total negative laboratory test results amounted to 692 people and 21 people have recovered," Odete said in a press conference at the Integrated Crisis Management Center, Friday, May 8, 2020.

She added, up to now there are still 7 patients who continue to undergo intensive care in isolation room at the Vera Cruz Health Center and 44 health workers are undergoing quarantine.

Regarding the number of people required for quarantine and auto-quarantine, according to Odete, currently there are 135 people who undergo quarantine compulsory in Dili and 101 in several municipalities including 32 people undergoing auto-quarantine (self isolation) in the municipality and Dili do not exist, except Arsenio Paixão Bano who is currently undergoing auto-quarantine at his residence in the capital of Dili.

There are also 2,080 people who have returned to their homes after undergoing quarantine for 14 days. Those who came from the Capital of Dili numbered 1,642 people and 483 others came from other Municipalities in Timor Leste including the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Kusi Ambeno.
