The KHUNTO Party Denies Divorce From Coalition

Oekusipost.com Dili – The Superior Councilor of the KHUNTO Party José dos Santos Naimori Bucar denied that his party was not divorced from the Parliamentary Majority Alliance coalition.  

According to information circulating on several social media platforms that the KHUNTO party has signed a platform with several political parties to maintain the eighth government until the end. 

“I have not yet signed an agreement. Last Sunday it was my big day. I don't know anything," Naimori stated by telephone to the Oe-Kusi Post on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. 

The KHUNTO party bench in the national parliament stating that KHUNTO gave its support to the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak not in political matter but the support is refer to prevent the epidemic of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that already existed in Timor-Leste. 

Member of Parliament from KHUNTO party Luis Roberto stated that, regarding the Prime Minister's withdrawal, the request for his termination was not stated in law but KHUNTO still obeyed the Prime Minister's order to keep doing the work to prevent COVID-19. 

“We see the current situation we must support to prevent this disease but if this disease is gone we talk about something else, we will talk politics but about COVID-19 we KHUNTO continues to support this eighth government," he told reporters in national parliament Tuesday April 14, 2020. 

"Regarding politics, KHUNTO has signed a new coalition deed led by Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão. We see this political situation the eighth government is doing its work so we all provide support to answer this emergency situation but if the disease is gone we talk about something else, "he explained and denied all the wrong information circulating in the public. 

"I said the information was not true because we were superior members of the KHUNTO party. We did not know yet to leave the new coalition," he denied. 

He added that if KHUNTO left the AMP coalition, he as a superior member of KHUNTO would have known, therefore he asked the public not to believe false information that was circulating in the public and that was being circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook.
