COVID-19: The government proposes free Internet for students and teachers

Oekusipost.com Dili - Domestic students and teachers will access a free internet network to facilitate teaching and learning activities during the national emergency period. 

This request was submitted by the acting Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães regarding free internet subsidies for students and teaching staff in the country during the period of national emergency status.

"The third point for interventions guarantees the provision of communication that is the government will subsidize internet access to students and faculty," the government press release accessed by the Oe-Kusi Post at the Dili Convention Center, Wednesday 8 April 2020.

Submission on the second point regarding the distribution of essential materials, especially food ingredients, medicines and clinical equipment through joint participation.

The fourth point is about tax relief such as the temporary termination of tax payment obligations to relieve entrepreneurs, consumers and provide liquidity for entrepreneurs, and the fifth point about public services such as stopping payment of electric energy and clean water.
