Government Requests Pelican Paradise to Focus on Investment Agreement

Oekusipost.com Dili – The government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (MEKAE), is orientating the international company Pelican Paradise to continue implementing the 5-star hotel project in the Tasi-Tolu region, Komoro Dili.

"I have met five or six times and we have oriented to investment agreements," interin coordinating minister for economic affairs, Fidelis Leite Magalhaes, told reporters at the government palace on Wednesday 4 March 2020.

"You know that, currently Pelican Paradise is working on the Tasi-Tolu project, after that the others will continue in the future until we complete the investment agreement, Minister Fidelis added.

The politician from the Popular Liberation Party said that, in accordance with the existing proposal, residents who live in Tasi-Tolu will be resolved in stages. So we won't do it once, but instead, the empty location starts. The government will negotiate with residents who live there to move to another place.

To that end, the project starts from an empty place that is not inhabited by residents, but the government will make an approach with residents to vacate the place in the near future.

The Government granted to Pelican Paradise Holdings Timor-Leste the surface rights on a land in Tasi Tolu for the development of an investment project. This international company, headquartered in Singapore, will build and explore a five-star hotel complex, with an investment of approximately US$310 million. (*)
